“When we learned that the Earth is home to more then just humans. This was the greatest discovery in history. Three races we once saw only as a myth, now approached us in peace and wished for us to coexist with them, they made themselves known to us due to the terrible threat posed by nuclear weapons after the Second World War. But in our arrogance and fear, we retaliated. It was a devastating war, but in the time of war a great cataclysmic event changed the face of the Earth forever. Some called it judgement day, but many called it… New Genesis.”

-Angela Hermon, New genesis witness, 1962.

Earth, Antarctica, August 20, 2015

A lone craft sped across the icy landscape, it’s pilot clad in armor.to survive the blizzard, about 6 foot tall and strong built. Wearing dark green thick coat for the climate, a metallic helmet concealing his entire face and a hood over his head, combat boots and gloves to stay warm. The harsh snow and ice blanketing the entire southern pole, untouched by civilization to ruin the natural landscape yet few dare to set foot on the frozen continent. Armed with guns and a sword by the waist and an axe strapped to his back. Riding a craft to make the trip less difficult and heading towards a large cavern in the small cliff, bringing the prowler towards the cave entrance to get out of the snow.  The hooded traveller pulled out a flashlight to see in the dark, travelling down the cave, avoid to trip over any jagged rocks. The fkloor of the cave was strewn, with discarded digging equipment, which looked to have been there for decades. Under close inspection, the tools were clearly not designed for human hands.

His helmet’s visor picked up traces of recent gun fire, including a handful of bodies lying about, from the positions of the corpses this was clearly a fight. Uncertain who won, but he didn’t come all this way to for a murder case. It was something more important than that. The sound of large footsteps echoed the caverns alerted the traveller, arming up with a large axe and a gun ready for combat.

The light flashes and coming right at him was a large avian humanoid, snow white feathered bird with a powerful beak and talons on both feet and hands, wearing clothing for the climate. Before him was a Kronan Ree, easily recognised one of the several anthropomorphic forms they turn into. Spreading its large wings, preparing to make the first move towards the traveller whether he was friend or foe, up close he could see a scar running down it’s left side of the beak. Raised one talon for the strike before it’s prey could react. Fortunately he did and leapt to side, tumbled and immediately drew an axe to cut this beast into pieces.

But out in the light, he stopped and instantly removes the hood, helmet and scarf to reveal his face. He was Rayden Hunter, an old man but physically strong for his, greying beard and long hair with few strands of brunette. “Seth? That you?”

The avian stood where it stand after hearing him spoke in a language it was familiar with, carefully inspected him with its keen eyes and realised whom the elder was. “Grey Wolf. Apologies, I assume you was someone else.”

The beast spoke in Kronan language. His large body grew small, feathers retreating into the skin, the rendering talons retracted without any pain, becoming more human as the body reconstructs, the clothing it wore hardly been torn but adjusted to the transformation in place of the beast was now a simple man, his black braided hair was in view from where the feathers were and a scar down his left eye remained.

“Good to see ya, Seth. Almost killed a fellow Kronan Ree had I not carried the scent of a wolf. But, glad I could find you from your last message.” Grey Wolf chuckled softly, approaching the fella he was meant to find, receiving a distress call and he was one of the few within reach to find his team in the Antarctic.

“We had to be careful of who was coming after what we found so I apologies for being a little… jumpy. We had trouble contacting the Society because of this damn blizzard.” Thorn explained for his rational behaviour.

Putting away his weapons to hear what Thorn was about to say. “No worries, least you had your guard up. Never let anything distract you from your duties. So what is it that caught the Society’s interest in this part of the planet, no doubt the others have the same idea if they knew.”

“We picked up a signal here and found this lot around. Could be some sort of research team that found something and then went silent. The base isn’t far from where we are. It’s got the flag of the Texan Federation.”

This got Rayden’s certain interest; someone most likely had found something in Earth’s southern pole. Who knows what they found. The Society did mention about something of an anomaly that appeared briefly on their radar a few days ago. Not surprising for some if it were beliefs of travellers from beyond their system.

“Not to sound random, but we expected a group to arrive, never expected your presence at least.” He asked, hoping not to question the famed Grey Wolf for coming to the rendezvous point.

All Rayden could do to respond was to shrug his shoulders, not even bothered of his reason for coming. “Just so happened to be in the area after a diplomatic mission with the Lemurian Empire, I was quite surprised to be picked for the assignment. Still, it’s better to be in some action hopefully then boring politics. Now then, why don’t ya show me the way to the settlement?” Following the Avian Kronan Ree to lead the way in the god damn weather. Mounted on to their prowlers to reach the settlement where his crew are just waiting for him. It was fortunate for Grey Wolf that it was not so far and the storm was calming down for the moment for the two on their journey. Reaching the settlement with the Antarctic weather slowly began to clear up and waiting for them were about four people who were waiting for them, wearing similar uniform, armed with weapons and even katana swords. Once they got a good look at him without his helmet, they immediately stood to attention.

“L-Lieutenant Hunter, sir!” Stood straight up, arms to the side, even though their helmets hide their expression, it was obvious that they were surprised by his’s presence. Rayden nodded his head to the group.

“Alright then, our objective is to search for anything that could provide answers to what happened here, find anything, or anyone don’t do anything hasty. Just don’t want anyone to be a hero, understood?” Receiving all nods that they understood clearly, sorting their equipment and spread out to search throughout the settlement.

Going into each room, vehicle and lab they find. There were a lot of equipment around like construction vehicles, medical kit and a few small vehicles; which concludes that they either found something under the ice and wanting to find out what, or, simply wanting to establish a colony for scientific research from prying eyes. But something else was caught Grey Wolf’s attention. Blood steins, bullet holes, claw marks on the walls and a few corpses mauled as if an animal had killed them, anyone could dismiss it so easily but Rayden can tell the difference of scenery. There were bullet marks, scorches, and a few craters with the fallen Guardsmen Mechs with fatal damages to some. It was a battlefield. And the latter had lost, badly.

Having an uneasy vibe about the place, and didn’t like it for a second. “Is this what’s left of them? How long did the T-Feds know something was wrong in this settlement?” Wonders about and investigating area. Using his helmet’s visor to scan and record from his visual sensors.

“About four days ago, when they just received a distress call from a lone ship and barely a handful were survivors, sir.” Sev answered, walking alongside his superior to recall what he knew. “They found it concerned and first assumed to be pirates or raiders. But, the survivors had a different answer. Attacked by an unknown force they never seen before, dunno about anything else until we know who or what we’re dealing with.”

“Yeah, this was no work of any raiders we know off. Something isn’t right about this, the Texans would have been able to put up a fight for as long as they can.” There was an uneasy feeling about this situation; with the equipment and military technology they could’ve had no problem. Seeing the charred remains of the victims he could not help but feel pity for those who have lost their lives. Silently praying to the Heavens to guide them to eternal peace. His moment of silence was disturbed by a strange sound. Draws out his weapons and trying to find the source of the sound. “Sev, get your weapon. We’re not alone.”

Before Sev could respond with a confused look on his face, a towering humanoid creature jumped out from the debris it laid hidden until their arrival. Pulled out a weapon in its grasp, firing small illuminated bullets or something close to it. Rayden threw himself over to Sev, pulling him into cover behind the corner of the building before the bullets hit him.

“Guess we found one of the culprits.” Amazed that the elder Kronan Ree, crouching down to avoid being seen. Carefully taking a peak through his keen eyes. This being was clad in an armour and clothing suited for this environment but the weapon is something he never seen before, from his height and built he could be about 6 feet or 7 and ver strong. Rayden checked his ammunition while crouching down in covering fire, hearing the gunshots seem to have some impact against the steel wall, almost punched through. Lean towards the opening and returned the gesture.

“Hope you like good ol’ lead bullets! My treat!” Firing his gun, trying to get a clear shot from a distance but attacker seem to be coated by strong armour, if he can see clearly through the debris and snow to know if Rayden actually wounded it. Their attacker let out an inhuman growl and slowly made his way in the open. The Kronan Ree soldiers took a peek over the edge and all they can tell, was their unknown foe simply stood in the middle of the open area. “Umm, guessing it’s mad at us for the whole bullet thing?”

Sev looked at him with a bewildered look. “What do you mean by ‘us’?”

As it was making its way towards them, it looked as though it was preparing deliver another until it received hits from above. Upon the rooftop, one of the Samurai soldiers, holding out her sniper rifle to get a clear shot of her target.  Firing another shot, only to miss inches from the arm, but was merely giving Grey Wolf and Sev time by distraction. “I have the target in my sight. Not certain how long but I’ll give you time to take him out whilst focused on me.” Turning towards her, despite taking a few bullets in the chest it was still standing, what further surprised them when it’s arm was engulfed bright purple energy. It’s fist held up for a few moments, pulled back to the armored being’s side before throwing its open palm straight to her direction. Unable to respond in time when the flowing green orb hit straight into the building she stood and made an impact, scattering debris.

Both men were shocked and awed by such power the stranger possessed, fearing their fellow Samurai was killed when receiving another call.

Sev gritted his teeth and ran towards him, firing his gun to attract his attention for Rayden to strike him down with his axe and sword to make a sneak attack in the leg. But their enemy somehow took noticed, fired another psionic blast at Sev and flung him afar. Turning towards the axe wielder with armored fists strong enough to stand against the blades. But moments before the blade could reach the armor, the being to grab the axe and struck into his stomach with the elbow, thrown across the ground. Rayden groaned in some pain from the impact. Slowly lifting himself up to his feet, deciding to use his full strength. Letting a soft growl, bearing fangs and ready for the next part. Only to see the armored creature engulfed in the same aura, fading away and leaving the soldiers in shock and awe of what they seen.

The Kronan Ree while was undergoing a change retracted back to his original features while in shock of what happened. Turning to his comrade who was beginning to recover. A samurai rushed over to them, crouched down to check if he was ok. “Sir! You alright?”

“Ugh! Not the worst. The Sniper?” Suddenly realising what happened after they were attacked.  Wiping the snow of his face to see clearly without his helmet.

“She’s only has a broken arm but is need of medic.” Assisting him to get on his feet before the two rushed over to the now conscious Sev. They were still confused of what happened and what was going on. “Can you still walk or fly?”

Sev steadied himself while being hoisted up and nursing his wound. “Giving time I should. Just what the hell was that?”

“That is something I like to know. What one thing for sure, is this may be just the start.” Uncertain about it, but his years of experiences tell him that something big was coming. The Council needed to hear this immediately and inform the allied nations.

I was having trouble with this ridiculous new submit system but here you are the prologue of my upcoming first novel: New Genesis: Dance of Blades. I had some delays due to college work but now finally able to work on it. There have been many changes as I wanted to make it worth reading for science fantasy fans.

Basically it sets in an alternative timeline where humans exist alongside with three different races. Technology advances and some countries and governments different from a war that happened some time in the early cold war-era, slightly a dystopian theme after scientists accidently created a catastrophic event called New Genesis (hence the title) and changed the face of the earth forever, there will be characters possessing powers they inherited from alien artefacts or born with. The story focuses on an organization called the Society where they preserve the peace between the four races and make certain to protect and defend. Basically an idea based on the Sanctuary and Warehouse 13 which is what I originally intended but changed it more for some basic ideas from games, books and movies with interesting themes and stuff.

It will have episode/chapters (not sure what word you use for that in books instead of tv shows) as its easier then making one big story. But the series will be about a new threat making its way to Earth and the inhabitants of the solar system will have to put aside their differences for their very survival of this unknown enemy. More details about the story will build up so if you have any questions at all let me know!
